Kampung Kecil

Kampung Kecil means small village which is the concept of this unique restaurant. Small cottages a.k.a. pondok are arranged inside the restaurant with tables inside them. So, we can choose one cottage to sit in to dine in.

Since it is an Indonesian seafood restaurant, we ordered our favourite, chilli crab!

Chilli Crab (Rp. 70.000)

The sauce of the chilli crab is very yummy, not too spicy. But what disappoint me was the crab itself as it was not really meaty whereas the shell was soooo big.

The other food were OK, delicious although there were nothing special.

Fried Chicken with Green Chilli (Rp. 20.000)

Fried Gurame (Rp. 32.000)
 Re-visit? Yes.

Pizza E Birra

It was just yesterday that I tried D'journal and today, I went to another Ismaya Restaurant, Pizza e Birra at Setiabudi One! Yayy

Following their lifestyle concept, Pizza e Birra has a similar atmosphere as their other restaurant that showcase a fun, enjoyable lifestyle from the decor, ambience, foods and drinks. I particularly like the creative design for Pizza e Birra that include a variety of animated persons, which give a retro hype feeling that's still considered unique here in Indonesia. Without doubt, this is one of the Hipster restaurant in town.

Lucky day! I came here with my office colleague so I got to taste and review many kind of foods from appetiser to dessert! Hehe! Although I still can't manage to taste them all though as we split into 2 table. Too bad~

We order 2 appetiser. El Diablo Chicken Wings and the newly added, Pizza Fries.

Chicken Wings was awesome, the taste is quite extraordinary compared to the classic BBQ that you may often try elsewhere. It has a little bit of curry taste I guess, like som sort of spicy spice.

Pizza Fries was a bit disappointing but kind of expected though. If they were to ask me to choose, I won't order this. LOL. This was basically just a french fries toast with beef cornet and cheese. You could definitely make this at home, so it's not worth it for me.

Pizza Fries
For main course, we each order individual serving for ourselves which was quite weird to do at Pizza restaurant, isn't it? At least for me, It's yes. I always feel great when you put a pizza pan in the centre of the table and everyone take each pieces and the mozzarella cheese are all over the place, getting took away. Yummm.

Anyway, back then I became indecisive what to order. I want to try the other dishes as well but since this is pizza restaurant, I choose to order the Callabrese Pizza, one of their new italian choice pizza which include salami, mushroom and olives, topped with tomato and a little mozzarella cheese. The taste was great but I personally need more cheese and tomato sauce!
Callabrese Pizza - 69K
For the classic Margherita Pizza, the taste was familiar but I guess you can't really go wrong with this one, right? It's tomato, mozzarella and basil!
Classic Margherita - 55k
One pasta that I got to taste is the Linguini with Chili Fried Oxtail. It's so yum but very spicy. If you like spicy food, then it's worth it! It's kind of more like a fusion pasta as the taste was kind of not Italian but more towards Indo-china?
Linguini with Chili Fried Oxtail - 79k
For the other main course, they also have what they call "Old School Mains", varying from the classic roasted chicken, pan fried fish, and chicken mushroom cream. As the name stated, it was so classic that I would only recommend ordering this if you are one of those health conscious out there that come along together with your friends. It's old-school and I can tell you that you get what you see! Roasted Chicken, potato and salad, done!

Delicioco Roasted Chicken - 59k

Nowww, time for dessert~
Most of their dessert still look like a pasta, although there are some that stay classic, like pannacotta and tiramisu. There are 2 kind of Pizza Dessert using puff pastry and pizza bread.

For the Bananananaa, It uses puff pastry as base topped with caramelised banana and ice cream. The taste was similar to banana foster, nothing special with a very familiar flavour.

Bananananaa - 39k
The Smashin' Oreo Cheesecake was a little better as it was quite authentic and different in taste. It was simply a warm pizza topped with cream cheese and oreo but together, they are amazing. It came in 2 different serving, Regular and large that serve 4 and 6 people respectively.

Peppermint Green Tea - 27k
All in all, would I recommend this restaurant? Absolutely. The food, service, and ambience were great and perfect for a casual hangout place with your friends or family. I may not want to come again for the second time though as there are still many similar pizza place that I haven't try out here!

Recipe: Tonkotsu Ramen

Craving for tonkotsu ramen, I was thinking of making my own since there is no ramen eating place in my city :(

It's not impossible to make our own milky ramen broth. What you need is patient and time! It needs more than 10 hours to make the perfect broth. I cooked it for only around 6 hours since I'd like to have it for my dinner, but I just started cooking at 12 noon. So, it was too late if I had to cook it for 10 hours.

The result? Well, I'm not really satisfied for the color of the broth. For me, It was not milky enough, the taste was really good and thick enough though.

To make the rich and creamy broth, you have to make sure that the bones used for the broth making was clean from the blood, or you will end up with the brown color which is not nice. So, firstly, to make the broth, boil the pork trotters and chicken feet using cold water with high heat.

Once it boiled, take off from the stove and dump everything on the strainer. And then, wash all the bone from anything brown and the blood using cold running water.

After that, re-boil the clean bones together with the mushroom, onion, garlic and ginger that had been stir-fried before. Put into high heat until it perfectly boiled, then put it in low heat for 10 hours or more. Check it out and top up with more water if necessary.

2 hours

4 hours

To make the sliced pork belly char siew, roll and secure it with string, then put it on the pressure cooker together with the soy sauce, sugar, leeks, garlic, onion and ginger for 30 minutes.

What is better than the runny yolk to complete our ramen?
Make sure to cook the egg exactly for 6 minutes on the boiling water for the perfect soft boiled eggs!
And, marinate them using water, soy sauce and sugar.

Finally, MY HOMECOOKED RAMEN!!
Although it's not perfect, but I'm satisfied enough for the flavour of the broth and the other components of the ramen. Maybe, maybe next time, when I've got many spare time, I'll cook it more perfectly.

D'Journal

Alrightt, this is not going to be a long post as today is the "ME" day kind of day so I went eating and shopping alone. :)
But it's still worth reading since it's D'Journal cafe review!
Surprisingly, this is actually my first time trying one of the restaurant belong to Ismaya Group (beside Pasta de Waraku, long long time ago) and I'm sure this won't be the last time as all of their restaurants are on my go to waiting list!

I looked at the menu and they all looked tempting for mee but I did not get to try many foods today as I only came for a high tea.

For the cake, I choose the famous Hazelnut Nutcracker that actually belong to their cake shop, Colette & Lola. The cake was awesome and I would say they are better than the similar chocolate cake that I tried before at Cacaote.

The mousse was fluffy and not too sweet. But I'm not a fan of mousse, so I prefer the chocolate cake inside which was so goooddd. My favourite was the base where I can find the nut and chocolate florentine. It's crunchy and yumm!

The Cappuccino was great as well. Been working as a barista before, I know how a good espresso taste like. It should not be bitter that you won't need to add any additional sugar and that's what I got here. However, keep in mind, this is merely my opinion and taste preference! You probably need sugar if you like your coffee sweeter :D

Anyway, thanks for the Barista for the latte art. Although I have to wait longer, but it's worth the pictures, isn't it? XD

Just a side sharing, I went to Irwan Team hair design for the first time today to get a haircut!
As usual, I did not call for an appointment, just walk in and got Shendy as my stylist. So far, I love the cut and hopefully it will get longer soon, at least for my graduation this May! After it gets longer, I will seriously consider to curl my hair. Hehee!

Alright, see you all. Cheers! xoxo

Recipe: Banana Bread

Last weekend, finally I got spare time to bake my own homemade banana bread. It was pretty easy cake to be made. Basically, you just have to mix all the ingredients together and taa daa! It's done!

The recipe was adopted from any recipe book with extra added ingredients from my own 'trial and error'

Well, let's bake!

Ingredients:
230 gr all purpose flour
100 gr white sugar
30 gr palm sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
110 gr butter
2-3 tbs flovourless cooking oil
500 gr bananas (3 big bananas)

Toppings (optional):
Banana slices
Walnuts
Chocolate chips

How to make:
1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celcius
2. Butter and flour the loaf pan
3. Sift the flour and add the baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla extract, cinnamon powder and sugar. Combine all together
4. Combine the mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter and oil well in a large bowl
5. Fold the banana mixture and the dry ingredients lightly. Remember not to overmix the batter!
6. Pour the batter to the loaf pan and bake until golden brown, about 45-60 minutes. You can insert a toothpick to make sure it's cooked perfectly.
7. Cool it down in wire rack and remove the bread from the pan
8. Serve warm or at room temperature

The cake was perfectly moist, not dry at all even after I left it overnight. It was full of flavour and not too sweet, perfect for my liking. So, what are you waiting for? Get to the kitchen, start baking and enjoy the cake. Yum~

Uncle Loe Coffee & Toast

Yesterday, I had a quick lunch with my family in Uncle Loe Coffee and Toast. The cafe design is quite unique since it's design like an old restaurant using wood tables and chairs. The menu here is simple food which is suitable for lunch and dinner time, or even snacking time.

You can choose to sit indoor where there is air conditioner provided. Or, if you like an open air place and smoking place, Uncle Loe has an outdoor space also.

Nasi Lemak

The nasi lemak was good. But, for me the sauce of the chicken was not really suitable for nasi lemak. But, the chilli was yummy and spicy.

Mie Ayam

Mixed Hainan Chicken Rice

I was having the mixed hainan chicken rice for my lunch. The chicken was basically the steamed chicken and the barbecue chicken. The BBQ chicken was really delicious and tasty. It was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned.

Price

Compared to other similar eating place, Uncle Loe's food price are a bit higher. But, in my opinion it was worth the price since they provided free wifi and sofa. So, you will comfortably having your chilling time with your family or friends.
