Tian Tian HK Roast House Palembang

What can I say, Tian Tian HK Roast House is the first non halal Chinese restaurant, beside bakmie shop, in Palembang, and I'm so excited about it. Spreading through the social media, I knew that this restaurant started their operation earlier this week.

Tian Tian HK Roast House basically serves Hong Kong (HK) cuisine, such as HK toast, roast chicken and roast pork. Unfortunately, they do not sell roast duck like the other HK restaurant.

For my lunch, I ordered the roast pork hainan rice. Where my brother ordered the wonton noodle. And, my mom ordered bakuteh. I also ordered claypot tofu to be shared, but I forgot to take the photo of the tofu since I was busy eating my lunch -_-

Roast Pork Hainan Rice - Rp. 33,000

The hainan rice was quite delicious. It has good flavour and taste, the sauce of the pork was also well balance. For me, the roast pork was yummy and tender enough, but the portion was a bit too little compared to the rice and the skin of the pork was not crispy enough.

BBQ & Roast Pork Combination Wonton Noodle - Rp . 35,000

Altough it was name as wonton noodle, strangely they did not serve the wonton. So actually, it was just the noodle with the bbq and the roast pork. The charsiew pork was a bit too dry, same as the noodle. Maybe, they did not give enough pork fat when mixing the noodle.

Bakuteh - Rp. 27,000

The bakuteh was a big no no for me. It had no taste, not enough salt and pepper, the herbs flavour were not strong enough either. Moreover, it seems like the pork was cooked separately from the herbal soup since it had no taste at all.

In conclusion, the food was quite tasty and worth the price. The place itself was clean and bright. They also provided free Wi-Fi and smoking zone outside the room. However, the service was a bit slow, we had to wait about half an hour for the bakuteh and we had to call the waiters repeatly to get our order.

Seoul Korean Restaurant Palembang

Seoul Korean Restaurant is the first and currently the only Korean restaurant in Palembang. It was opened about more than a year ago and this is my third visit. This time, they introduce the new korean BBQ in their menu. The BBQ set came with two bowl of rice, vegetables, meat and mushrooms.

Beef BBQ Set - Rp. 115,000

The beef was marinated in the barbeque sauce. Not like the usual Korean beef, this one was more like the bulgogi. Not bad, but not that impressive for my liking.

Beside the Korean BBQ, I also ordered some main couses to be shared.

Topokki

Kimbab

Pajeon

Normally, Korean restaurant will serve us what they called banchan or appetizer, but here there was no banchan for us. Most of the menu will come with a small plate of kimchi and a cup of water.

The topokki and the kimbab was so so. Not special. And, the pajeon was a little bit too thin, not like the first visit where I got thicker pancakes than this one.

And, these are some photos from my previous visit.

Samgyetang

Bibimbap

The restaurant has simple Korean design. What I like is that the clean atmosphere there with the Korean music played. In my opinion, the taste of the food was okay, not really authentic though, since they put the 'Indonesian' touch in it.

Oh, for you who love Korea, they provided the Korean traditional clothes for you who want to try it. And it's free of charge.

Cafe Luigi Palembang

Done the soft opening last week, finally I got to try this newly opened cafe, Luigi Cafe, for my quick lunch today. Usually, I will have my lunch together with my mom and dad, but today they went for lunch together with their guest from Jakarta, so I asked my boyfriend to have lunch together with me.

Ok, firstly, we were VERY hungry. Then, we ordered one main course for each of us plus one portion of toast. After the food came, we immediately ordered one more portion since we saw the portion was small. But in the end, we were super full and my tummy felt like bursting.

The food menu was basically similar to other cafes or kopitiam in Palembang.

Red Fried Rice - Rp. 27,000

Peanut Butter Toast - Rp. 17,000

Penang Fried Kwetiaw - Rp. 32,000

Grilled Chicken - Rp. 48,000

The waiter recommended us the red fried rice as the chef's recommendation. But I did not really like the taste, it was too much tomato sauce in it which made me could not taste the other. The penang fried kwetiaw was good, with a little touch of chili, not too oily either.

I love bread and peanut butter, really! At the end, my boyfriend only got to eat two slices of the toast since I ate the rest super quickly. HAHAHA!

The place was clean and comfortable. And the service was super good! Maybe because they had so many waiters in it. As I remembered, they got about ten waiters for such a medium size cafe. And, I think it was more than enough since as you know Palembang cafes never had such a long queue and fully booked although it was lunch or dinner time.

From their motto 'ngopi & kongkow', we know that Luigi Cafe will serve us the best experience of having coffee and chit chat with friends or family. Actually, they served the famous national coffee from Indonesia, like Aceh Gayo, Sumatera Coffee, Bali Kintamani, etc. However, they had not served them at the moment.

Nah, this is my subjective score for Luigi Cafe:
Food: 7/10
Price: 7.5/10 (relatively cheap, all include PPn)
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 8/10

Extra,
Hainanese Chicken Rice - Rp. 33,000

I 'da bao' one chicken rice for my brother since he was still at school when I had my lunch. Hihihi~

OK, till the next post. Ciao!

The Soul Cafe

Last Sunday, me and my boyfriend decided to have our dinner at The Soul Cafe after we got the brochure from young people who spread them at the traffic light.

The Soul Cafe main focus was the 'nobar' concept where people can gather to watch football match together since they provide big screen just in front of the main building of the cafe.

Well, I prefer to sit inside rather than outdoor seat because of the super hot weather. However, there were no smoking policy altough you sit indoor. So, if you do not like the smell of the smoking, you'll get uncomfortable when some people smoke.

There are two tables available with sofa inside the cafe. It was pretty comfortable to sit there for long long time with very good signal of the free Wi-Fi. What I do not like is that there were so many mosquitos there. Argg.

Grilled Duck - Rp. 28,000
White Rice - Rp. 6,500

Grilled Chicken - Rp. 25,000

Fried Gurame with Padang Sauce (M) - Rp. 55,000

Kangkong - Rp. 20,000

Firstly, I thought that the portion of the food will be small. Well, many cafes tend to serve small portion, right? So, I ordered so many food for only both of us. I was shocked to see the chicken and the fish which were huge for two people. Luckily I did not order the large size for the fish. OMG! But, since we were big eater, we finished them all but our tummy were super full that we hardly can move our bodies.

Overall, the food taste was good and delicious, seasoned well. My favourite was the duck, it was so nice, tender and there was no duck smell in it. For the such huge portion, the price was relatively cheap for me. And, I really satisfied with my dinner here and definitely come back next time.

Beside the main food, The Soul Cafe provides some small bites and some unique drinks. Moreover, they have some karaoke room to be rented. So, it's very suitable for the teenager who like to spend their time with friends. As you know, Palembang has a little entertaining place to go beside the mall, so some people prefer to go to KTV or hangout in the cafe.

EIFFEL Patisserie & Cafe

On my last weekend, me and my buddies had a plan to stay up late at one of my friend house to finish her preparation for her wedding. Yay! I'm so excited that one of my best friend is getting married super soon! Before heading to her home, me and my boyfriend had our weekend dinner in the newly opened cafe, Eiffel Patisserie Cafe, which is near my friends's house.

I love the design of this cafe. There are 2 floors for this cafe. The first floor mainly for their bakery, bread and cake display. Beside, the opened kitchen was also there. So, we can see the process of making their bread.

For the food menu, they sell some basic cafe's food such as quick grab food, Western and Indonesian food.

Oxtail Soup - Rp. 65,000

The oxtail soup was served with white rice. It was good, not too oily, the oxtail itself was tender and the seasoning of the soup was perfect. My boyfriend said the minus of this food was that the small portion of the soup. HAHAHA! Big eater, huh?

Salmon Steak - Rp. 85,000

Actually, I ordered salmon steak with mushroom sauce. However, it came out with BBQ sauce. Grr, not because I did not like it, but I think that mushroom sauce was more suitable for the salmon. The owner offered me to exchange the salmon steak with the new one with the correct sauce but I refused it since I was hungry and I had to wait for the salmon to come out from the kitchen for around half an hour!

For me, the salmon was being cooked for too long so it was a bit dry and the vegetables were also overcooked.

Avocado Juice - Rp. 18,000

The juice was super thin! Avocado juice supposed to be thick and creamy, right? But oh well, since the cafe was newly opened, the owner was walking around from table to table to ask our opinion about the food. Once we said that the juice was too runny, she immediately exchanged it with the new one which was yumm, refreshing and perfectly sweet. Yayy!

Banana Espresso - Rp. 28,000

This one was good, the coffee and the banana flavour were there. Enough for me to stay up late with my friend.

Overall, the food was delicious although there were some mistakes here and there. But, the owner was so nice, wasn't it? She offered us some changes despite of their minus. The service was quite good and the ambience was also nice and suitable for us who like to hangout in the cafe. The price was OK for the cafe standard.

Oh right, too bad that there were only a few cakes available which was only fruit tart and chocolate mousse. Maybe next time, when there are quite many variety of the cakes, I will give it a try for sure!

Plan B Cafe Palembang

Plan B Cafe was another small cafe (beside Serendipity Cafe) that owned by the La Vita Bella's owner. The food menu was a bit similar but more simple compared to other, but the focus was same which was the Italian Cuisine.

That time, I came at night to have supper with my sister, brother and my boyfriend after watching movie. So, we just ordered quick supper to be shared.

They gave complimentary appetizer for each of us. It was basically a deep fried corned beef with ball shaped.

Trio Buns - Rp. 31,000

The waiter recommended us to have their Chinese Buns which was the chef recommendation. The trio buns mean there were different fillings to the three of the buns, namely chicken curry, thai beef and grilled duck. My favourite was the duck. It was very flavorful and delicious. The chicken filling was too little for the big bun for me, so it was not really satisfying. The buns itself was not really good, it was a bit dense and sticky.

Original Cheesecake - Rp. 22,000

Really, I love cheesecake, but it was super hard to find good cheesecake in Palembang. And, this one was also just so so. The creaminess was OK, but the taste itself was not up to the other cheesecake I had before. The cheese flavour was not strong enough, it was sweeter than the normal cheesecake. But, you can't complain much with the cheap price they set, right?

Oh, they also accept for those who want to order for the whole cake and they have many flavour of cheesecake, including oreo, greentea, tape, durian and others.

Ginger Tea

Overall, the food taste was OK. I don't really like the place which was no air-con. As you know, Palembang was a very hot city. Moreover, I think they really should put Wi-Fi since it was a cafe where many people will just hangout and having chit chat rather than having complete meal where Wi-Fi was really needed.

KOPITIAM Palembang Indah Mall

Another Kopitiam coffee shop has just opened in Palembang. This time, it was opened in the one mall in Palembang 'Palembang Indah Mall'.

This Kopitiam's specialties were the Singaporean food, such as Laksa, Mee Siam, Mie Rebus, etc.

Singapore Laksa

Vietnamese Beef Noodle

Mie Rebus

Out of the three quick lunches we grabbed, the beef noodle was better than others although it was not very good also, but the beef flavour was there. The Laksa was just so so, the soup was too oily for me, and there was not enough toppings to add the flavour. And, the worst was the mie rebus, the sauce was not good, too sweet and bland. Ugh.

The place and the service was not bad. There is an option to have outdoor seats for them who like to smoke and have outside fresh air.
But in my opinion, the price was not suitable for the quality of the food.

Hmm, there was a 15% discount for the opening promo. So, grab it fast if you want to try the new restaurant here!
