The decoration here was very Indonesian. We can feel the Balinese environment with the wooden furniture and the Balinese ornaments. The restaurant itself was huge as it was three buildings joined together, moreover, they had two floors for the dining place.
Well, let's go to the food. We ordered different food for each of us so we could taste the different menu. Firstly, we ordered their signature dish, the Tepi Sawah Crispy or Grilled Duck.
Tepi Sawah Crispy Duck - Rp. 92,500 |
Tepi Sawah Grilled Duck - Rp. 92,500 |
I can say the portion was huge for one people. It was half of fried duck served with rice and three kinds of chili which were matah chili, fried chili and oil chili. The duck was really succulent and delicate. However, the skin was not that crispy compared to the one in Bali, my mom said. Yes, it was not too crispy since the duck was too big and it had a really thick fat under the skin.
Same for the grilled duck. The meat and the seasoning was perfect. However, the duck fat was so thick so we could not really eat the skin unfortunately.
Not to forget the famous Balinese chili. The matah chili which contains of the raw shallots and lemongrass was fresh and flavorful. The fried chili and oil chili were so spicy although we only eat a little of them. The chilis were very suitable for the rice and the duck itself. Superb!
Next menu was bebek betutu.
Betutu Duck - Rp. 95,000 |
The duck was marinated with the betutu spices and being smoked till tender. The duck meat was really soft and juicy, we just need to use our spoon to fall it off from the bones. Yumm!
Legendary Oxtail Soup w/ rice - Rp. 82,500 |
We also ordered the oxtail soup since it has star on the menu which was the recommendation of the restaurant. Well, I did not really suggest to order the oxtail soup. The meat was tough and hard. We even asked for knife to slice the meat. The broth was super oily and we could not finished it. We even could see the frozen fat on top of the broth after we left it for a few minutes. OMG!
Sate Lilit Bali - Rp. 55,000 |
The waiter introduced us to try the sate lilit which was their favorite food. It was yummy and tasteful. They also served it with the red chili and small cayenne chili with soy sauce. And this one was one good recommendation!
Hot Tea - Rp. 7,500 |
The service of the Bebek Tepi Sawah was OK, our order came out pretty quick. However, the waiters seem to have lack of trainings. The one who served us came back to our table four times to confirm our orders. Come on, really?
For the price, it was expensive, but the portion was big, right?
Hmm, want to taste a little bit of Bali? Bebek Tepi Sawah Restaurant was one of the must try restaurants in Bali.
