Chinese New Year Dinner @Horison Ultima Hotel

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

I would like to say "Gong Xi Fa Cai" to everyone who celebrate chinese new year. We are always happy to head to the chinese new year since all the big family will sit together to enjoy dinner in the CNY's eve.

Usually, we were having the suki as our dinner plus our aunties cooking. However this year, we decided to have our dinner at Horison Hotel Palembang. They had two choices of food package. We chose the second choice which was more expensive but the food were better. The Hotel also provided some entertainments and doorprize. Luckily, I got one of the doorprize. Yihaaa!!

The special puff pastry was a pastry filled with fresh cream and topped with 'nian gao' and cherry. Nian gao was a traditional chinese new year's cake which is made from glutinous rice. Unfortunately, the pastry was not too flaky.

Salmon yu sheng is also known as Chinese fish raw salad served with some mixed sauces. It is a symbol of prosperity.

It was basically the fruit salad topped with fried prawn. This one was delicious, fresh, sweet and salty.

The crab soup was shaped in Yin Yang shape. As you can see, the shark fin was served in different bowl and it was big portion!

The pecking duck and the sea cucumber were so so, OK but not special. The duck was super tender but it was not too flavorful. The sea cucumber size was big, but it was too thin. Disappointed disappointed! Oh yes, we got free complimentary sea cucumber dish from the owner of the hotel which was my dad's friend. Usually, our family was really fond of the sea cucumber. But, since it was not that good, we could not finish it and gave it to my aunty who wanted to take it back home.

The fish itself was not bad, they used the dori fish which was steamed in soy sauce.

The fried noodle was tasty and seasoned well. However, after eating such many food, we could not finish this one.

Super cute KOI fish pudding!! Everyone at our table could not resist to take a photo of it. Haha. The white one had lychees flavor and the orange one had oranges flavor. The pudding itself was so sweet plus the sauce made it sweeter. OMG!

And, here is my big family at Palembang. And we wish our family at different city a special "GONG XI FA CAI"
