40 Avenue Restaurant & Bar

Hello Palembang foodies!! You guys are of course so excited for this week. There are so many newly opened cafes and restaurants this week. Last week was the Ichiban Sushi, this time was the time for the 40 Avenue. And next, we'll be posted soon also! 

What a view, huh? Well yeah, the design of 40 Avenue Cafe was really spot on. I really love the ambience here! There are three different environments which you can choose to seat. I choose the one with the classic room since it was really bright and of course I'll get the better quality picture for the food. Hahaha! Inside, there is a bar section with low lighting but more comfortable seating place. And then, they also had outside seats with a pretty view, too.

Ok, now come to the food.

Beef Burger - Rp. 45,000

The burger was yummy I can say. The bun was well-toasted and crispy. The patty was juicy and well-seasoned. You can see that the propotion of the bun and the fillings are excelent.

Fetucini Carbonara - Rp. 40,000

The cooking of the pasta was perfectly al-dente. The carbonara sauce was super thick and creamy. For me, I like it. But my brother and my boyfriend did not really fond of a such thick sauce. They said it was okay for one or two mouthful, but for one full portion, they preferred lighter carbonara sauce.

Chicken Steak - Rp. 65,000

When we ordered the chicken steak, as usual, the waiter asked about the condiments. They had three types of sauce, namely the mushroom sauce, BBQ, and black pepper. We chose the mushroom sauce which turned really great with such a big chunked of the mushroom inside.

After asking about the sauce, the waiter asked for the 'doneness' degrees for the chicken steak. Eh? Really? I was blanked for a second. Who would eat a rare chicken steak? OMG. And, when I said well done but not dry. The waiter seemed confused. Errrrrrrrrrrrr. We also did not expect the chicken steak turned to be fried chicken. When the waiter brought it to our table, my brother immediately said, what? you ordered KFC? Oh well, it was not as crispy as KFC and it was not juicy at all. It was really a disappointment!

And also, we asked for the mashed potato and what came to us was the fries, arggg, so we complained to the waiter and they said that the chef forgot, so we got the compliment mashed potato. It was not the best mashed potato in town I can say. The potato was not well mashed, not that creamy and a bit dry.

There were not a few variation of the food. Just a simple cafes food and some Chinese-Indonesian food. They had some desserts and cakes in the display. I would like to try them next time I think.

The staff there were really friendly. But they made a few mistakes though there were only a few people eating when we visit. After the 'chicken' mistake, they also gave the wrong bill to us which was the other table bill. Hmm. Moreover, they use a handwriting bill instead of the computerizing bill. In my opinion, for such a medium high end restaurant, 40 Avenue should use the machine bill to minimize the miscalculating bill and also to have higher standard for them.

What I love here was really the ambience and the surroundings here. It was really recommended for hangout place and chit chat-ing with friends. Oh, my friend said that 40 Avenue Cafe was also suitable for romantic couple. Haha!
