NewTown Kopitiam Palembang

Having quick lunch in another hits Kopitiam in Palembang. The location of The NewTown Kopitiam is just beside the Kedai Kapitan Kopitiam. It's very tight competition, right?

 

Toast Set - Rp. 36.000

Every time I went to Kopitiam, I always excited to try the toast. Good Kopitiam had to have good toast, right? And, the NewTown's toast was one of the good toast I've ever had. The bread was still fluffy and the filling was rich and fulfilling. And the sweet balance of the The Tarik was perfect.

Fried Kwetiaw

The fried kwetiaw was just so so and a bit oily for my liking.

NewTown Fried Rice - Rp. 30.000

The fried rice was good and the extra chili in it gave it more flavor and taste.

Oxtail Soup - Rp. 45.000

The oxtail soup was so good. The meat was so tender, juicy and not too many fat on it. The beef broth was also very flavorful.

Burgo Campur

The burgo campur consists of lontong, egg, fishcake, burgo and long beans. The taste was delicious and the santan soup was perfectly thick and flavorful.

Chicken Noodle

The chicken noodle was OK, the noodle was quite thin compared to the pork noodle which was good.

Nasi Lemak

The most eye-catching thing about the nasi lemak was the cute plating. The plate was similar like a kids plate where there were separation between the rice, meet and the vegies. The flavor of the rice was quite delicious, the fried tempeh sambal was OK. But I prefered fried wings rather than the curry chicken which I think was more suitable for the nasi lemak.

For me, the cupcake was too dry. Not good.

In my opinion, there are many variant of food in NewTown Kopitiam, from traditional Palembang food to western food. Some of the food taste good and some not, just pick the favorite menu and you will get good food. The ambience was really nice with air-conditioner and wifi provided. They also had outdoor seats for them who want to have fresh air and smoke. Furthermore, the price was reasonable and affordable, plus, there was 15% discount for them who had the member card. However, I was not really impressed with the waiters services' which were not friendly.
